PRESERVATION: The Plant Studios’ legacy

The Artsboretum music arts incubator project will conserve valuable resources, preserve and respect the The Plant Studios’ rich music legacy. The Artsboretum project will also stimulate our creative economy by providing opportunities for our creative work force, independent artists and non-profit organizations.
The FIRST PHASE of the Artsboretum project is to RAISE FUNDING necessary to purchase 2200 Bridgeway in Sausalito, the former home of The Record Plant and The Plant Studios. Removing this building from the instability of the commercial real estate market, for ownership by a non-profit entity, will preserve its irreplaceable music legacy for future generations.
SECOND PHASE: Bring the “vibe” back to Sausalito, by restoring the building and partnering with The Plant Studios to expand our educational training programs. Our social enterprise business model will bring this legendary space into a new era, expanding upon a long tradition of service to the non-profit community.
States Pete Sears: “…”Plant Studios”… is a valuable asset to the City of Sausalito, as well as to the San Francisco Bay area in general. With its internationally respected name and rich cultural heritage, (it) helps spread awareness of Marin County and its valuable contribution to the arts. The beautiful exterior woodwork alone is one of the few remaining examples of old Marin architecture. The “Record Plant Studios” is a Bay Area institution, and should be saved at all cost. ”
If only a small fraction of the music lovers who have been moved by the music created in this space, donate a few dollars to the project fund, we would have more than enough funding for this Artsboretum project. Artsboretum is a project of the International Humanities Center, a nonprofit public charity exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Therefore, contributions to Artsboretum are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
